Why It Matters
Pools don’t usually break all at once. Issues show up slowly which is why a proper inspection helps figure out what’s going on before it becomes a repair bill.
Leak checks are especially important if you’ve noticed a sudden drop in water level, unexplained algae, or air bubbles coming through the return jet. Many small leaks go unnoticed until they cause damage to plumbing, equipment, or even your pool shell.
What's Included
Every inspection we do is hands-on and system-focused. Here’s what we look at:
Equipment check: pump, filter, heater, chlorinator, timers, valves
Pressure readings and flow rate observations
Plumbing lines and joints for early signs of leaks
Skimmers, returns, and drain areas
Surface condition and visible structural issues
Signs of equipment wear like rust, noise, or low suction
If you’ve got a specific issue (like the pool losing water), we’ll focus in and do a full leak check. That includes:
Water level tracking
Dye testing around fittings
Pressure testing of lines (if needed)
Visual check for cracks or wear in the shell or tile
You’ll get a clear report on what we find and what (if anything) needs attention.
When to Get One
We recommend everyone to get an inspection:
Before the season starts, especially if it’s been a while
If you’ve had cloudy water or chemical imbalances that don’t make sense
If your pool hasn’t been used regularly and needs a general check
If you’re buying or selling a home with a pool
And of course, any time you notice water loss, low pressure, or something that just seems off.
We’ve done these checks for over 20 years across DC, Northern Virginia, and Montgomery County — from older vinyl-lined pools to commercial salt systems.
Our job is to give you the right info, not to sell you on stuff you don’t need. And if we find something minor, we’ll give you a heads-up with options.
If you’re not sure what’s wrong but know something isn’t right, this is the service to book.
FAQ
How do I know if I have a leak or just evaporation?
Evaporation usually means 1/8" to 1/4" per day. If you're losing more than that consistently, especially overnight, there’s likely a leak.
Do you offer pressure testing?
Yes. If a visual inspection doesn’t confirm the issue, we can pressure test the lines to isolate the leak.
Can leaks be fixed the same day?
If it’s a small, accessible issue (like a gasket or fitting), sometimes. For anything larger, we’ll explain your options and can schedule repairs if needed.
Do I need to drain the pool for a leak check?
No. Most leak checks are done with the pool full. In fact, the water helps us test levels and detect flow issues.
What’s the cost for this service?
Price depends on how involved the inspection needs to be. If it’s a basic equipment check, it’s one rate. Full leak detection is more detailed. Reach out for exact pricing based on your setup.
